Damon Albarn: 'the rest of Blur hate me'
Blur
Recording is a no go, but lunch was fun says singer
Feb 1, 2008
Blur's Damon Albarn says he believes the band's reunion fell
apart because the rest of the group "hate" him and don’t want to work
with the singer.
Albarn who is currently working on new projects with his Gorillaz
and collaborators, spoke to The Sun about why the proposed reunion did
not happen.
"I had dinner with the guys recently and it was laugh but there’s
no way they want to work with me again – they all hate me," he said. "A
reunion is not going to happen."
He also said the rest of the group weren’t as committed as him,
saying: "Alex(James, bassist) is writing books and making cheese and
Dave (Rowntree, drummer) is moving into politics. I’ve always said if
you want to be a musician you have to dedicate yourself to it and do it
every day."
The singer, possibly having a dig at other big name bands who
have reunited over the past year, added that he was not too upset the
reunion did not take place, saying: "The only reason people would do it
is for the money - but I don’t need the money."
Albarn's comments follow those from guitarist Graham Coxon
yesterday (January 31), who told NME.COM Blur were naive to think they
could go back into the studio last year.

Arctic Monkeys to start work on new record this summer

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner has revealed that the band plan to work on new material over the forthcoming summer to add to demos they have previously worked on.
The new songs will form the basis for the band's forthcoming third album, although the band do not have plans to release it this year.
"We did a bit [writing and demo-ing] in January," Turner told BBC 6Music. "We had tunes that we'd already been playing on tour so we recorded them. That’s six [songs].
"We’re going to take it easy and start practising over the summer and doing new stuff. We did a little thing in January and it was almost tempting to go again ‘cos it was dead exciting but we thought, 'No, take it easier, chill out a bit and consider'.”
It's been exactly a year since the band released their acclaimed second LP 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'.
